Gary’s Beaver Travel story goes right back to 1983, when he started as a travel adviser at Beaver Travel in Burnt Oak. In 1986, he jointly opened the Radlett branch, his own childhood hometown, alongside founders Allan and Muriel Beaver, before later completing a management buyout with Andrew in 1994.

Before travel, Gary studied Retail & Distribution at Cassio College in Watford, in conjunction with working at John Lewis Brent Cross. He saw the opportunity to combine retail and excellent customer service training with travel and joined Blue Arrow Travel in Harpenden as a trainee, before his journey with Beaver began.

Beaver Travel has been a perennial winner in the major national travel industry awards and has picked up Agent of the Year travel provider awards consistently for decades. Gary was one of the driving forces behind that story and is honoured to work alongside a team who’ve helped build such a remarkable reputation. These days, much of his time goes into running the company’s business affairs behind the scenes, ensuring the business continues to succeed and adapt, responding to worldwide challenges impacting the travel industry and ever-changing technology and consumer behaviour. Whilst he’ll happily point clients towards Beaver’s amazing team of travel sales experts, he’s always delighted to chat to clients about the many destinations he’s been lucky enough to visit himself.

Gary is extremely proud that Beaver Travel was among the very first travel companies in the UK to specialise in luxury leisure travel and of the resilience and growth the company has shown ever since, thanks largely to loyal clients’ support and an expert, dedicated team, many of whom he’s now had the pleasure of working alongside for over 30 years.

The way people can research, plan and book holidays is radically different today and it is no mean feat that Beaver Travel has survived and flourished as an independent operator with a high street presence.

• Favourite way to spend a weekend? At The Emirates watching Arsenal win, dinner at my favourite Italian restaurant, chilled Sundays with family, friends and dogs
